Insurance - Yeah, Right...

Back to the venting mode.... proceed with caution. (or proceed to another page)

My husband and I have spent all afternoon on the phone with our dentist and then the dental insurance company trying to figure out what is covered, what is not, what the fee schedule is and exactly WHO is an in-network provider.

Well, HELLO,  our dental insurance company, well...... it stinks. (I had to think for a while to censor that one)  Number 1:  They don't have a fee schedule, at least not a set fee schedule. You have to submit a paper so that they can survey area dentists and get the average fee for that particular procedure and that is what they will pay. (which means that we cover the difference - after already paying high premiums!) Number 2: There is not an in-network provider in our ENTIRE STATE!  (WHAT?!!) And by the way it has taken us this entire year to finally get that information out of them.

The dental insurance is DONE. We will estimate our costs and lump it into our cafeteria plan. We essentially lost $300 this year to dental insurance.

Ah, the lovely life of insurance companies....

It seems amazing, to me, that an organized company is so adept at billing us, but cannot answer simple questions.

I am with you, sister.
